Green/Genevese – This is your classic green basil flavor profile. Perfect on a napolitan pizza, in a pesto, or chopped and sprinkled on a fresh pasta.

Purple Basil – This exceptionally vibrant and unique basil has a bit more mild flavor profile with slight hints of anise. Purple Basil brings a pop of color and flavor to almost any dish that may call for more traditional green basil. Perfect used as a extremely fancy up scale garnish or even sprinkled into a bowl of soup or used for muddling into a fancy cocktail.

Thai Basil - This type of basil is very different from your classic Genevese basil. Thai Basil offers a much different flavor profile offering heavy anise flavor with subtle citrusy tones depending on age of growth. Microgreen basil will be slightly sweeter and will develop a stronger Anise heavy flavor and aroma the longer it grows. Thai basil in any form from Microgreen to Full size is perfect for your classic Thai curry dishes and oriental style soups such as a Pho or even a chicken wild rice soup.

Basil can be ordered in 3 stages of growth depending on your preference & specific end use
Microgreen or Microherb Stage

(Grow time 3-4 weeks)

Microgreen Basil has a somewhat more mild flavor and aroma but packs much more nutrients per gram than larger basil. Can be used as a very fancy garnish or added to salads, sandwiches, or even smoothies!

Baby Greens or Baby Basil Stage

(Grow time 4-5 week)

Full Size Basil

Basil Mini Greens or “Baby Greens” can be harvested anytime after the Micro Green stage. The flavour and aroma usually starts to intensify and become stronger through this stage of growth but the stems will also slowly become inedible and additional separation may be required in preparation.

When you require the maximum volume of basil for those larger batch recipes or food service we can also grow larger “Full Size” plants. These plants require the most time and resources to grow to this stage. This means there may be a longer wait time to initialize a grow depending on inventory available.
